*important: this story uses my real name, just to let you guys know. My name is Lainey. In case anyone gets confused on who I am in this story.*
So, I have a huuuuuge crush on this guy named Nathan. He's four years older than me, but up until now we've been extremely close friends. (We've known each other for a year.) He's the kind of person I can open up to completely, no matter what we're talking about. A few days ago, I was explaining all the bad romance experiences I've had in the past, and he brought up crushes again yesterday. He said, "going back to crushes, did you ever have one on me? Just wondering."
I reluctantly said yes, just waiting for rejection from him. Things turned completely upside down after that.
"I may have a small crush as well," he said, grabbing my attention.
"On me???" Surely he meant my sister, who is a lot closer to his age.
"Yaah, I fall for kind, friendly people too." He referenced back to when I had said that I fall for kind and friendly people.
"I might possibly still have a crush on you." I came clean at last.
"I maaay still have a crush on you." He admitted. My heart stopped.
Note that I was in the car at the time this happened, and I almost screamed aloud. After more than 7 years of tortuous failures in romance, someone I liked finally liked me back. I suddenly smiled bigger than ever before, my lip splitting in the process.
And today, we had a deep discussion on our crushes for each other, and how they started. He left for Colorado a month (or more) ago, and he said he knew he had fallen for me more than three weeks before he left. He said it made the trip almost unbearable. He also wrote a short note to me and sent it to me on my phone. It read: "You said you wanted to know who my crush was. Well, my crush is Lainey, because she 'L' always makes me Laugh, 'A' because she is Amazing, 'I' because she is irresistible, 'N' because she Never fails to make me blush, 'E' because she's Everything (to me), and 'Y' because You are the crush of a lifetime."
Later, (because I'm a cheesy romantic,) I said, "I could say 'I love you' ten million times and it still wouldn't be enough."
He replied with, "awwww, I could only say 'I love you' once and hope it would be enough <3"
I was flattered so much I proceeded to say, "once would be more than enough."
He paused, worrying me a little, but I had faith in him.
"In that case, I love you."
My heart nearly gave out on me when I read what he had said. At that moment, he became the first person to succeed in making me blush.
I did not make this up. This actually happened, word for word, syllable for syllable.
